Since 2006 the Training and Skills Development working group of the Social Dialogue Committee for the Postal Sector had, by means of a project funded by the European Commission, conducted analysis and collected best practices to verify the level of implementation of the 2006 ‘Joint Declaration on Training and Skills Development in the Postal Sector’, giving particular attention to the skills and jobs needed in the changing industrial sector.

As part of this analysis on skills and jobs, in 2012 the Training and Skills Development working group initiated the ‘Matching Skills and Jobs in the postal sector: Reflections of the European Social Partners’ project. Funded by the European Commission and with the support of Posteurop and UNI Europa, this project aimed to identify trends and patterns in the matching of skills and labour market needs, and of education and training with the requirements of job roles in the postal sector. 3s provided external consultancy to the project, via investigation phase (collect and analyze the material available from the EC and other specialized organizations related to matching skills and jobs), analysis phase (conduction of survey, experts interviews), participation/presentation of results and recommendations at the technical workshop of the project and a report about project results.
