AMS Austria intended to use the AMS occupational classification to organise international data exchange. For this purpose a mapping of this national system to the current version of the International standard classification for occupations (ISCO-08) was prepared.
In this context, 3s was commissioned a feasibility study for the construction of an unambiguous mapping between the 558 occupational titles of the AMS classification to the 436 ISCO-08 unit groups. Outcome of this study is a list of occupations that can be related unambiguously, supplemented by a list of occupations where this is not possible for various reasons. These reasons were classified and described as well as supplemented by suggestions how the difficulties could be overcome by changing the AMS occupational classification.
