The aim of the European BE-TWIN 2 project was to support the joint and coherent implementation of ECVET and ECTS in order to promote transnational and horizontal mobility of learners.

By establishing a link between the two credit systems, the transfer and recognition of compentences in Europe and the permeability between different levels of education (in particular between vocational education and training and higher education) were improved. BE-TWIN 2 was based on the methodological approaches and tools that had been developed in earlier projects and adapted them and tested them in transnational mobility projects (focusing on EQF levels 4 and 5).

These previous projects were the following:

  • BE-TWIN, an ECVET pilot project which developed a methodology for the mutual recognition of credits between vocational (ECVET) and higher (ECTS) education and then tested this methodology in selected fields;
  • the ESF-funded  “Driving towards EQF" project (69/1/1/1758/2009), which was carried out in the Italian region of Veneto and which developed and tested an approach for defining national educational standards and curricula based on identified core work tasks and competencies.

Fondazione Giacomo Rumor – Centro Produttività Veneto in Vicenza (Italy) acted as project coordinator. 3s participated as operative partner, together with Austrian partners Fachhochschule Technikum Wien and HTL St. Pölten. The Austrian partners were in charge of analysing and testing how the project results can be adapted and used in the national context.
