The AQ Austria is the authority responsible for external quality assurance. Quality assurance for education offered by the Fachhochschulen is of utmost importance in the Austrian FH sector. A new FH degree programme, first of all, needs to be accredited by the FH Council, with the accreditation granted for a maximum of five years. After this approval period a re-accreditation is required. During the last years, 3s conducted some hundred studies concerning analyses of requirements, acceptance, coherence and labour market needs of degree programmes, which are an essential part of the quality assurance process and bases for the decision, whether a new degree programme is going to be accreditated / reaccreditated or not.
