Analysing regional effects of further education and related public support schemes
The three-year research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education aimed at developing a framework for studying the relationship between further education and its support by public funding schemes and the economic development on regional level.

Long-term consequences of regional differences in the use of national support schemes and the availability of additional regional funding sources for patterns of participation in adult learning formed one particular aim of the project. For achieving the project’s aims, a data set was established bringing together the most suitable regional data from 2004 to 2016.
Data for 16 German states and nine Austrian states were analysed in detail. Results to the backdrop of regional data for the remaining EU28 member states are also discussed.
3s contributed to the development of the concepts and methods applied and was responsible for the empirical work on the nine Austrian states (2004-2016).
