Issue 19 of the ECVET* magazine is the last issue dedicated to the work of the European ECVET pilot Projects.
It wraps up the work done by the European pilot projects 2011-2014, gives an overview on the impulses emerging for national implementation, and reflects on the main added value of ECVET for several target groups in general.
Issue No. 19 contains the following contributions:
· In an editorial, Carlo Scatoli, Policy Officer at European Commission (DG EAC) acknowledges the contribution of the ECVET pilot projects to the future of ECVET and highlights some of the suggestions, models and inspiration provided by the ECVET pilot projects that will remain relevant in the future of ECVET;
· In addition to their individual aims and objectives in the national context, the eight pilot projects funded under the call from 2010 were expected to inspire the general development of ECVET as a tool and an instrument at the EU level. An article by Karin Luomi-Messerer and Monika Auzinger from 3s presents a set of generic recommendations on how to use ECVET in the context of mobility and lifelong learning;
· One of the main objectives of the eight ECVET pilot projects 2011-2014 was to contribute to the national implementation of ECVET. However, they all came from very different starting positions. An article by Anette Curth from ICF GHK summarises the results from the ECVET pilot projects and looks at the impulses for national implementation emerging from the projects;
· After several years of testing and development in pilot projects, it is possible to look at the benefits of ECVET from a broader perspective: How can ECVET support learners, businesses, VET providers and VET systems in general? An article by Daniela Ulicna and Anette Curth from ICF GHK lines out the main benefits of ECVET for specific target groups, illustrated by concrete examples from the pilot projects’ practice.
