3s Unternehmensberatung is a Vienna-based research and consultancy firm working in the fields of cross-country comparative research on education systems and labour markets. We are looking for a new member to join our research staff who is going to contribute to a recently started three year international research project within the Horizon 2020 programme, funded by the European Commission.

The ENLIVEN project studies the learning of young adults during their early stages of their occupational careers and policies in place aiming at supporting their learning and progress from more marginal to more promising positions within the labour market.

Candidates should have a degree in social sciences; further requirements include:

  • a keen interest in cross-country comparative research in the fields of education and employment systems,
  • at least some experience (as participation in related projects, contributions to relevant publications) in the research fields related to the ENLIVEN project,
  • solid knowledge of and experience with quantitative and qualitative methods in social sciences,
  • excellent command of English (English is the working language of the project).

Given the European scope of 3s activities, the command of any other European language is considered a particular asset. Good German skills are not an absolute necessity. However, candidates who do not speak German well are expected to acquire a sound command of German over time.

At 3s, members of the research staff enjoy working in an international context, with a stable employment perspective, high levels of autonomy, a trustful and supportive social environment, and membership in an experienced, multi-disciplinary team of researchers. The company provides support for researcher’s individual development, including preparing a PhD thesis.

The position is part-time (30 hours per week), full-time employment is possible at a later stage. The place of employment is Vienna, however, occasional travelling abroad will be required. Most preferably, the contract will start on January 2017. Payment is subject to the collective agreement for the general trade sector (‘Angestellte im Gewerbe’), however, a higher individual payment is possible when taking into consideration the given level of research experience and remuneration offered for comparable positions at Austrian universities.

Please send your application to Doris Jandl, executive assistant, office@3s.co.at, by 2nd of December 2016 at the latest.
