New Cedefop publication: Key competences in initial vocational education and training: digital, multilingual and literacy

3s joins GREENOVET

The GREENOVET project (European VET Excellence Platform for Green Innovation) has been selected as one of only five projects to receive funding from the European Commission to support the development of transnational cooperation platforms of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs).

Report “Measuring Learning Mobility in Vocational Education and Training” published

The report written by 3s staff members Günter Hefler and Eva Steinheimer on behalf of the EU Commission, examines ways to better measure learning mobility in initial vocational education and training (IVET).

Update of the AMS Occupational Information System ‘BIS 2.0’

In June 2020 the AMS Occupational Information System (BIS) was fundamentally updated (by 3s and our technical partner FWD). Among other things, the system was adapted to the corporate design of the AMS (Public Employment Service Austria) and converted to a responsive layout to ensure accessibility and usability on smartphones (see picture).

‘European Skills Agenda’ and ‘Proposal for a Council Recommendation on Vocational Education and Training for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience’ published

On the 1st of July, the European Commission presented the European Skills Agenda for sustainable competitiveness, social fairness and resilience. It sets ambitious, quantitative objectives for upskilling (improving existing skills) and reskilling (training in new skills) to be achieved within the next five years through a set of 12 ‘actions’.

Final report of the EU Study “Mapping the state of graduate tracking policies and practices in the EU Member States and EEA countries” published

This study maps the system-level approaches to higher education and vocational education and training graduate tracking across the European Union and the European Economic Area, and their progress towards achieving the requirements of the Council Recommendation on tracking graduates.

New publication with 3s contribution now online: “Study supporting the evaluation of the Council Recommendation on the validation of non-formal and informal learning”

Throughout their life, people develop skills through work, volunteering activities, leisure, life experience, self-learning, online learning, non-institutional courses and more. Validating this non-formal and informal learning helps them to better integrate into the labour market and the society.

Cedefop’s “Skillset and Match” magazine features 3s research on comparing VET qualifications

The latest issue of Cedefop’s “Skillset and Match” magazine (May 2020) features an article on Cedefop’s (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) work in this area, based on two 3s-led studies.

Learning about the European Union – 22 schools received the Jan Amos Comenius Prize for high-quality teaching about the European Union

The prize goes to 22 secondary schools from across the EU that teach about the European Union in a creative way and helps to spread these practices. 3s coordinated the evaluation of the applications for the prize by independent experts.

New Cedefop publication now online: ‘European qualifications framework – Initial vocational education and training: focus on qualifications at levels 3 and 4’

This study takes a closer look at initial VET qualifications assigned to EQF levels 3 and 4 via national classifications and explores what they have in common and in what way they differ. It looks at their purpose and value on the labour market or for further learning, and how they are assigned to the national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and EQF levels.
