The Erasmus+ project EXPECT collects examples of good practice on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in the Vocational Education and Training sector. The project partners from seven EU countries exchange ideas in peer learning activities (PLAs).

12. January 2022

The two-year research project EXPECT (EXchanges of Practices in Education for Climate Targets) is dedicated to the topic of education for sustainable development (ESD) in vocational education and training. Under the leadership of the cooperation partner MBO Raad from the Netherlands, the project participants from Austria, Finland, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK exchange examples of good practice on sustainable education approaches and projects in higher vocational education.

The 3rd EXPECT newsletter reports on the last Peer Learning Activity from 8-9 November 2021 which was organised by the UK project partner Association of Colleges in Brighton and could exceptionally take place face-to-face with almost all participating institution representatives.

During the two days of the meeting, the participants got to know Plumpton College, one of the largest and most important providers of further and higher education in the United Kingdom and its activities in relation to achieving the climate goals,  received an overview of the English post-16 education system and were informed about the “Greener Sussex Collaborative Project”, an association of 14 universities in the region which is particularly dedicated to the topics of carbon knowledge, electric vehicle technology, land management, alternative energies, and decarbonisation. Furthermore, the project partners got to know the Brighton Hove and Sussex Form College (BHASVIC) which presented its pilot project “L3 Carbon Literacy Project” in which the Science of Climate Change is taught.

The next EXPECT-PLA is planned for March 2022 in Riga, Latvia.
