The European Commission, DG Employment, has authorized 3s together with con-sortial partners TenForce and Mondeca to develop, manage and disseminate the ESCO classification.

ESCO stands for European Taxonomy of Skills, Competences, qualifications and Occupations and is designed as a multilingual, structured, easy-to-use terminology that shall contribute to bridging the gap between educational systems and labour market requirements and at the same time to improve the matching of labour market supply and demand by enhancing transparency and providing a “common language”.
The main task for 3s is supporting the elaboration of content for ESCO. This is pro-vided by expertise on thesaurus development for occupations and competences on one hand and on the other hand by integrating the European Dictionary of Skills and Competences (DISCO) masterminded by 3s. The 3s team will also bring in their tech-nical know-how concerning thesaurus maintenance and semantic software.
