Opportunities of digitalisation for vocational education and training in Austria

The increasing and combined use of digital technologies and the expansion of their fields of application is about to cause a sustainable structural change through innovative disruption, which hardly leaves any area of professional, public and private life untouched. The question of how the transition to the digital age can be supported by appropriate measures has gained a central place on Austria’s political agenda in recent years. Shaping the consequences of digitalisation is also a focus of cooperation between the Austrian social partners.

Therefore, 3s was commissioned to analyse international initiatives and projects dealing with new forms of learning and/or the promotion of competence acquisition in a digitalised world. The analysis focused on the innovative power of these projects and their applicability and transferability to Austria. The best practice examples mainly covered the field of vocational training and comprised all levels of education.
