A new Cedefop publication gives an update on the national qualification frameworks around the world. Parts of the report are based on research carried out by 3s and Ockham IPS.
The third edition of the ‘Global Inventory’ gives an update on the national qualification frameworks around the world. It provides information on national and regional developments as well as selected themes. It is the result of collaborative work between Cedefop, ETF, UNESCO and the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning.
Volume I is composed of a set of thematic chapters on different aspects related to qualifications frameworks, such as mechanisms for recognising all learning, or the quality assurance of qualifications. In chapter 7, Jens Bjørnåvold (Cedefop) and Borhene Chakroun (UNESCO) discuss the challenges and opportunities involved in comparing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) qualifications. The chapter summarises the outcomes of joint research carried out by Cedefop, ETF (European Training Foundation) and UNESCO (in 2015-16) comparing the content and profile of four vocational qualifications in 26 countries worldwide, using the European classification of skills, competences, occupations and qualifications (ESCO) as a reference point.
The underlying study for this chapter was carried out by researchers from 3s (Karin Luomi-Messerer and Monika Auzinger) and Simon Broek of Ockham IPS (Netherlands). The report is available for download here.
