What is the added value of ECVET (European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training) for individuals or institutions? This question was addressed by a wide spectrum of indiviual success stories that were presented in the Austrian ‛Brotfabrik Wien’ on 6 November 2017 in Vienna.
Eudard Staudecker (Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, BMB) gave an ovierview on ECVET related activities in Austria and presented a positive record when it comes to improving the efficiency and quality of VET mobility due to ECVET. He also mentioned the potential of ECVET as a ‘currency‘ for further education and trainings. The Ministry of Education’s objective will still be improving the permeability between education and training sectors and strengthening the recognition of competences gained via informal learning.
Karin Luomi-Messerer (3s) presented a brochure on the state of learning-outcomes orientation in Austrian VET commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Education (BMB). Karl-Andrew Müllner (National Coordination Point for the Austrian National Qualification Framework-NQF) presented the first effective mapping of qualifications to the Austrian NQF. Sabine Tritscher-Archan (ibw) talked about the project ‘Learning from Practice‘. In this project, eight national ECVET experts visited project promoters in order to discuss their use of ECVET in practice. The findings are supposed to help improving the way of tailoring ECVET experts‘ advisory services to the target group needs.
During the final official ceremony organised by the National Agency Erasmus+ Education (OeAD GmbH) and the Federal Ministry of Education, eleven individual ‘ECVET success stories‘ were rewarded. The involved persons received specific certificates by Christian Dorninger in person, Director-General for VET and Adult Education at the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, who expressed his gratitude for their commitment.
