15. December 2015

On October 22 and 23, the annual EASPD conference entitled ‚ Inclusive teaching programmes: Let’s develop it together!‘ took place in Salzburg, Austria.

During the conference, the final results of the project ‘EQF meets ECVET’ were presented. Four basic non-formal VET programmes at NQF (National Qualifcation Framework) respectively EQF (European Qualification Framework) levels 1 and 2 were defined and described by using units of learning outcomes (according to ECVET, the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training).

The project’s objective was to facilitate a form of official recognition of basic non-formal VET qualifications on levels 1 and 2 of the NQF/EQF and thereby to make vocational skills, knowledge and competences visible and valuable (also for potential employers). Furthermore, this approach should highlight the learners‘ particular strengths.

During the panel discussion on ‘Units of learning outcomes to emphasize the learners‘ strengths‘ the importance of recognising non-formal learning and the development of a recognition model that facilitates the issuing of official certificates for handicapped learners were discussed.

Karin Luomi-Messerer (3s) was invited to the panel discussion to give an input from the perspective of a national ECVET expert.
