Certi4Train – Stakeholder consultations for the validation of the competence matrix draft for CVET trainers
The ERASMUS+ project „Certi4Train“ ( with the participation of 3s) has the objective of developing a European CVET trainer competence matrix and a European ISO standardized CVET trainer certification.

The ERASMUS+ project „Certi4Train“ ( with the participation of 3s) has the objective of developing a European CVET trainer competence matrix and a European ISO standardized CVET trainer certification.
Currently the participating EU partner countries (LU, FR, AT, DE, IE, PT) are organising stakeholder consultations with practitioners, CVET experts, and HR-Managers of CVET providers in order to validate the first draft of the competence matrix for CVET trainers.
Project background: Currently, there is no European CVET trainer competence matrix and European CVET trainer certification, delivered by accredited certification bodies, available. Furthermore, an ISO standardized and controlled process which is the same all over Europe, and certification based on a computer-based assessment tool which also recognises non-formal and informally acquired knowledge, skills and competences is still missing. This means that CVET trainers do not have the possiblity to gain the same certification across Europe. Several European projects have already worked on developing competence matrices (VQTSI & VQTSII).
The current project Certi4Train will build on their results and contribute with a comprehensive transnational competence matrix for CVET trainers proposing different expert levels related to the European Qualification Framework (EQF). None of the existing CVET trainer certifications propose a European CVET trainers competence matrix compliant with the EQF recommendation. This compliance with the European recommendation will allow EU member states to integrate the developed CVET trainer certification scheme in their respective National Qualification Framework. The produced CVET trainer certification will also contribute to improve mobility of CVET trainers within Europe (ECVET).
