Analysing Qualification Structures and Training Needs in Salzburg by 2010 – with particular Regards to Producing Industries

3s, in cooperation with SFS (other Austrian research institute) was responsible for analysing current and future needs of qualification structures and training offers in the producing industries in the Salzburg province.

Possible gaps had to be identified and recommendations for future strategies had to be developed. The study focussed on the topic: qualification structures and training needs in selected branches of trade – with particular regards to producing industries and in selected related supplies of services in Salzburg. Economic trends and developments in the producing industries and labour market of the Salzburg province were analysed, as well as qualifications and competences taught in vocational training and further education. Based on qualitative interviews with labour market experts and vocational education experts, policy recommendations in regard of the qualification structures and existing needs in vocational training and further education in the field of producing industries and related economic sectors were developed. Type of services provided:  

  • analysis of economic trends and development in producing industries in the Salzburg province 
  • analysis of qualification structures and training needs in Salzburg by now and by 2010
  • empirical, qualitative interviews with labour market experts and training and education experts as basis for an evaluation of qualification structures and training needs in producing industries and related economic sectors by 2010
  • figuring economical, political, and social aspects, also based on expert interviews with regional and supraregional decision makers
  • Scenario process to define (4 possible) future developments of producing industries as well as relevant qualification structures and needs in Salzburg 
  • Workshop with regional and supraregional decision makers, SWOT analysis of scenarios as basis for policy recommendations
  • policy recommendations according to the qualification and training sectors, regarding all involved employee parties
  • consideration of Salzburgs objectives to assure added value, employment and innovation in Salzburg in the policy recommendations
