The volume provides a unique perspective on the transformation of education in the 21st century, by bringing together leading researchers in education, sociology and geography to address questions of space in relation to education and learning. 3s colleagues Günter Hefler and Jörg Markowitsch contributed a chapter to this volume which investigates the influence of ‘organizational spaces’ and ‘skill spaces’ on formal adult education by drawing on Maurice, Sellier & Silvestre’s seminal study “The Social Foundations of Industrial Power – A comparison of France and Germany” (1986).
