The study aimed at examining the role of language competencies in gaining employment in the EU and to what extent they present a distinct advantage to job seekers in EU-28 Member States.

The information obtained from the study is expected to improve the understanding of European and national policy makers of which languages are in demand in the European labour market and should thus provide a valuable contribution to national language education policies at all levels of education. The study was coordinated by ICF.
